Avalon Cottage is a bungalow converted from an old farm building. It has been constructed with the disabled and elderly in mind. It has no steps and has sliding doors suitable for the movement of wheelchairs. Facilities include 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms, one en-suite, with space and equipment again suitable for the disabled. Both bedrooms have twin beds and the en-suite bedroom can have the beds adjoining each other. Both bathrooms have electric showers as well as baths, ample heating and emergency pulls. There is a modern fully equipped kitchen including microwave, automatic washer/drier and lever taps (as do the bathrooms). All electrical points are at an accessible height. The lounge-diner has remote control colour TV and access to a large patio with garden table and chairs and panoramic views of the beautiful Alphinbrook Valley. All services are included, as is bed linen. This cottage is part of Hayne Barton, a grade 2 listed farm dating from 1086 (The Domesday Book) with 16 acres of gardens, fields, streams and woodland. It is only 4 miles from the beautiful and romantic Cathedral City of Exeter, with both the sea and Dartmoor only a short drive away. On the farm there are sheep and horses, while in the woods badgers, foxes and even deer can be seen. For the ornithologists amongst you, owls, buzzards and other species of birds can be sighted. Well behaved pets are welcome.
